1. ‘Be’: Forms

The ‘be’ verb has a number of meanings when used in English and is also an irregular verb with several forms depending on present or past forms.

Present:

I am
He / She / It is
You / We / They are

Past:

I / He / She / It was
You / We / They were

Here are some examples of the verb being used in context below:

  • I‘m in college at the moment.
  • Where is he?
  • He was her first boyfriend.
  • Were you at the U2 concert last night?
